Why do bridges sometimes need to be replaced?
Typically bridges require replacement because of damage sustained from prolonged exposure to string tension. Cracks accross the pin holes, cracks at the saddle slot, severe warping from a failed bridge/top glue joint, incorrect intonation, previous repairs and poor bridge design can all render a bridge unfit for duty.
